One month before your move
- Notify your current landlord, in writing, of your intention to move, even if you are leaving at the end of your lease.
- Contact Pak Mail for help with short or long-distance moves. Call (925) 456-0100.
- If you need to move something long distance that requires special handling, such as a vehicle or piano, you may need to make arrangements with Pak Mail for specialty shipping, custom packaging or crating. If you will need to store anything, Pak Mail can refer you to a local storage facility.
- Talk to your doctors, dentists, and vets and either arrange to take copies of your records with you or get a release which allow them to send the records directly to your new health care professionals. If possible, get referrals from your current health care professionals.
- If you have school-age children, get copies of their school records or make arrangements to have their records sent to their new school district.
- File a change of address with the post office and IRS.
- Contact your current utility companies to have services discontinued the day after you move. Contact utility companies in your new area to have services turned on by the day you plan to arrive.
